Description
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to take a leadership role in emergency situations and act as the primary liaison with emergency services.

Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for those persons required to perform the role of Chief Warden or Deputy Chief Warden during emergency situations.

  • 2-3 hours (5 hours if combined with our basic Fire Warden course)

Award Issued
Upon successful completion of the assessment requirements of this course, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and wallet card.

Recertification
Refreshers recommended every 2 years.

Pre-requisites
The following unit must be completed prior to undertaking this course:

  • PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation

Pre-entry Requirements
Students must be physically capable of participating in the practical activities and demonstrate a basic level of language, literacy and numeracy.

Delivery Methods
The course content will be delivered in a classroom environment using PowerPoint presentations, video, group discussion and a number of demonstration and skill building activities.

Assessment Methods
Students will be assessed in a practical assessment simulating a relevant emergency scenario.
Underpinning knowledge will be assessed through the use of a theory assessment (containing multiple-choice questions).

  • Responsibilities of Chief Fire Warden
  • Human behaviour during emergencies
  • Command, control and coordinate functions
  • Initial response procedures
  • Accounting for evacuated persons
  • Coordinating with emergency services
  • Post-evacuation management
  • Site evacuation exercise and debriefing

Notes
This course is often combined with our Fire Warden course (Total duration – 5 hours).
All of our courses are tailored to site policies and procedures.
Appropriate clothing is to be worn when attending training including long pants, long shirts and enclosed footwear. PPE specified by the workplace is also to be worn.
